DNS and Zone Server firmware upgrades in all regions
Scheduled Maintenance Report for DNSimple
Completed
Since this has taken longer than expected, we're going to create another scheduled maintenance window to cover the remaining Amsterdam and Ashburn data centers later today. This will give the teams (ours and our hosting provider) some time to rest so we can tackle the rest of the upgrades tomorrow. Thanks once again for your patience and as always, welcome to email support@dnsimple.com with any questions.

The firmware upgrades are still in progress for San Jose, but we have restored zone updates and Secondary DNS for that region. Once the final upgrades are complete we'll be working on Tokyo next.

Update
We're now working on the San Jose region. Zone updates will be delayed along with Secondary DNS changes for only a few minutes as we roll out upgrades to the systems in this region. We're also better prepared for any firmware upgrade issues so these should not take as long and have as much of an impact on our service.

Update
The Chicago region is back online and receiving zone changes and responding to DNS queries. We'll be moving on to San Jose next which will cause a short outage of zone updates and secondary name server updates.

Update
The upgrades in Chicago have been completed and we are working on bringing that region back online and restoring service to that region. Thank you again for your patience as this was an unexpected, but now corrected issue with the upgrade process.

Update
Due to Chicago taking longer than expected to upgrade, we're going to temporarily re-route DNS traffic away from the Chicago data center due to the delays in zone updates to Chicago. We're aware the delay is impacting some customers and doing our best to correct the issue.

Update
We're still waiting on the Chicago server upgrade to complete as it is taking longer than expect. We will keep you updated on when it is finished and zone updates have gone out to that region.

Scheduled
We've finally tracked down a tricky issue with the memory on our name server systems that requires us to upgrade the BIOS to a newer version to resolve. This will require taking our name server and zone server systems temporarily offline in every region to perform the upgrades needed. During this maintenance window zone changes and updates will be delayed for each affected region for up to an hour at a time, but DNS service will be uninterrupted and work as expected. We're budgeting up to an hour for each region with a little extra to spare just in case.
